Wednesday evening Advent services

posted Dec 1, 2012, 10:14 AM by Webmaster AGLC   [ updated Dec 20, 2012, 6:12 AM ]
Sunday, December 2, is the first day of the Advent season.  Advent (Latin for “to come”) is the beginning of the church year and a time of hope, repentance, watchfulness and preparation.

Please join us each Wednesday during Advent at 7:00 pm for evening vespers. These midweek services of evening prayer offer a time of devotion and contemplation during this season of yearning and preparation for the presence of Christ.

The setting for the Wednesday evening services will be Holden Evening Prayer.

Curious to learn how Holden Evening Prayer came to be? Click on the image above to listen to a recording from 1990 of the composer, Marty Haugen, explaining the origin, form, words and music of this setting of evening vespers which was written in Holden Village during the winter of 1986.
